Abstract

Parental lines, MS 2219 A and PC-23 R of forage sorghum hybrid “PCH-106” were studied for optimum planting ratio and extent of seed set in the MS line. Out of five planting ratio of female and male (4: 2, 6: 2, 8: 2, 10: 2, 12: 2), maximum seed setting %; seed yield per panicle and seed yield per row were observed in 4: 2 planting ratio. Generally 1000-seed weight and seed germination were not affected by planting ratio and highest seed yield per hectare was recorded in 8: 2 planting ratio, which was at par with 6: 2 planting ratio. This may be due to tallness and abundant pollen producing nature of male parent PC-23 R and more seed parent rows per hectare.
