Vegetative characteristics of twenty four genotypes of ber were studied during 2010–11 to 2011–12. Among the genotypes, Sanaur 6 had significantly higher tree height, tree spread, stem girth, tree volume and cross trunk sectional area. Genotypes Banarasi Pewandi, Dandan, Kaithli, Narikeli, Nazuk, Noki, Rohtaki Gola, Sanaur 1, Selected Safeda, and Wallaiti had erect tree habit while, other genotypes had spreading tree habit. Genotype Sanuar 3 had highest leaf breadth and individual leaf area while maximum leaf length, fresh and dry weights were recorded with ZG3 and Noki respectively. Noki had highest shoot length while maximum number of leaves per shoot and mean number of lateral branches per shoot were recorded with Sanaur 6 and Sanaur 5, respectively. Based on these results, considerable diversity exists among the genotypes. This information may be used for varietal identification purposes and for selection of superior budding and grafting material.
