In vitro propagation of Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal has been successfully established from apical bud explants on MS medium. Maximum number of multiple shoots was obtained on MS medium containing BAP (0.44 μM) + KN (2.32 μM). Half MS supplemented with IBA (0.49 μM) gave maximum frequency of root initiation & root number. These plantlets were successfully transferred to the field.
