One hundred ninteen algal species were reported from different freshwater habitats of Tripura. These include 27 Cyanophyta (Cyanobacteria), 53 Chlorophyta, 18 Euglenophyta and 21 Bacillariophyta. The algal forms other than Cyanophyta were recorded for the first time from this region. Among these 25 species were reported first time from India.
