Abstract

Uppa sacred grove is located between 82° 49 ’E and 18° 06 ’N. in Visakhapatnam district, Andhra Pradesh; it is the part of the Eastern Ghats, with altitude of 997 m. to 1067 m. The interesting feature is Mesua ferrea L., dominating in the grove. This paper deals about the diversity of higher plants in the sacred grove of Uppa or what are the associated plants naturally growing with Mesua ferrea L., and observed rare, endangered, threatened and endemic species. And also deals with the interaction of local tribal people about this sacred grove.
