Abstract

With the renewed interest in ancient knowledge on traditional indigenous therapy, the field of ethnomedicine has emerged with resurgence for its primary role in extracting the curative properties from the tribal or rural population. The district Bijnor (U.P.) of India is endowed with the treasure of medicinal plants along with prevailing remedial measures among the rural or tribal populace. Hakims, Vaidhyas, Tribes and native people of the area have been consulted and their knowledge of therapeutic uses is presented in this communication. These indigenous medicinal plants play a significant role in primary healthcare of the rural populace.
