The present paper enumerates 61 taxa of fresh water algae from Ranchi district of Jharkhand state, India. Out of these 47 were Chlorophyceaen 11 were Cyanophyceaen and 3 were Bacillariophyceaen algae. Chlorophyceaen algae were the dominant in all the localities.
