Abstract

The observation was mainly focused on the variation in distribution of tissue proportion and its influence on density in the culms of Dendrocalamus strictus Nees. The different portions of the culm wall such as outer, mid and inner portions at different height levels of the culm were collected and analyzed for the study. Variation in proportion of different tissues and physical property such as density was recorded separately. Based on the study a definite uniform trend was observed in proportion of tissues at different portions of the culm wall and also at different height levels of the culm. Similarly the physical property such as density also varies with height levels and different portions of the culm wall.
