Abstract

One of the high medicinal value plants, Biophytum sensitivum is propagated in its natural habitat by tiny seeds, but the seed viability is poor and has very low germination percentage. In this paper, we report direct regeneration of Biophytum sensitivum using nodal explants. The highest numbers of multiple shoots (24) were formed on MS medium supplemented with 3.0 mg/l of BAand 0.5 mg/l of NAA. The rooting of in vitro formed shoots was observed on MS full strength medium along with 0.5 mg/l of NAA. The work reported in this paper will be useful to people to conserve and explore the B.sensitivum medicinal plant.
