Abstract

The high yielding variants of Vigna mungo var. Azad-1 and Shekhar-2 were isolated from gamma rays treated M2 generation. The seeds of these variants have been analysed for quality parameters. Total protein content, sulphur content and the sulphoaminoacid cysteine and methionine significantly increased in the variants of both the varieties. A positive correlation occurs between sulphoaminoacids and total sulphur content in the variants of Azad-1. Cysteine amino acid showed negative correlation with total protein in the variants of Shekhar-2. Methionine had a positive and significant correlation with seed yield in the variants of both the varieties. Total phosphorus reduced in the variants of both the varieties.
