The paper deals with a detailed investigation on the leaves of Capparis divaricata Lam., In telugu tellauppi or budareni, belonging to family Capparaceae commonly known as caper brush found throughout India. The leaves are used ethno medicinally in folk-lore, Siddha and Veterinary medicine. The study includes macro and micro morophological characters including powder characteristics, organoleptic characters, HPTLC finger printing and preliminary phyto-chemical analysis. The present work can serve as a useful tool in the identification, authentication and standardization of the plant material.
