Abstract

The current paper simplifies mathematical model for evaluating network performance of IEEE 802.11 based ad hoc networks. The transmitting stations in the network can have arbitrary finite buffer space to store the incoming packets from higher layers. Statistically, the analysis is based on M/G/1/K queuing model. Based on renewal theory model, the main advantage of current model is application of transform free computations for calculating the key parameters. The proposed evaluation strategy simplifies computations involved in comparison to the complex inverse transform algorithms present in the literature. The results obtained from the mathematical model are validated to prove its accuracy.
