In the present scenario, the field of Robotics finds potential applications in many fields where robots must work in the real-time environment to take a correct decision regarding the situation, while using the system in remote applications. An initiative was taken to design and fabricate such a low cost automated guided vehicle (AGV), which finds obstacles and changes its direction automatically based on the information provided by the infrared sensors. The AGV Prototype developed here is made from locally available electronic components and with using Appropriate Technology, which saves a huge amount of investment of money and time. Finally, these robots were designed with Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) operated and were Re-Programmable to accommodate the possible changes those in real-time environment. An artificial environment was prepared in the laboratory and the robot went through several successful test runs that validated the effectiveness of the prototype.
