Big data is a term for data sets that are so large or complex that traditional data processing application softwares are inadequate to deal with them. Extremely large datasets are handled by Big data applications that present challenges of scale. Highperformance IT infrastructure is necessary to achieve very fast processing throughput for big data. SSDs are a popular solution for big data applications. Solid-state drives (SSDs) based on NAND Flash memory are well suited for big data applications because they provide ultra-fast storage performance, quickly delivering an impressive return on investment. This paper discusses the key benefits of SSDs and also gives a heuristic approach to manage Big data applications through deployment of SSDs.
