Abstract

The wall of bursa of fabricus of guinea fowl consists of tunica mucosa, tunica muscularis and tunica serosa. There were 12–14 plicae of tunica mucosa surrounded by psedostratified columnar epithelium. The epithelial cells had ovoid nucleus placed eccentrically. The thickness of muscular coat increased with the advancement of age. The presence of collagen and reticular fibers were noticed in the muscular coat. The tall columnar cells of bursal epithelium showed strong Periodic Acid Schiffs reaction and mucopolysaccharides reactions which increased with the advancement of age.
