Abstract

Haemorrhagic septicaemia (HS) is an economically important disease of cattle and buffaloes caused by Pasteurella multocida serotype B: 2 and is generally controlled through vaccination. The sero-survey of HS antibodies in cattle and buffaloes in Jammu region (India) is investigated using HS ELISA antibody kit. Overall prevalence of HS antibodies was 30.45% in cattle and 40.64% in buffaloes. The test used in the present study being a simpler test packed in a user friendly kit could be an answer to solve the problem of testing large number samples while monitoring HS antibody levels in the serum of vaccinated animals and thus would be helpful for formulating control strategies for HS and vaccine efficacy.
