A total of 101 otitic ear samples from dogs were screened for the presence of Malassezia pachydermatis and other causative agents on the basis of cultural and cytological examination. As many as 82.18% samples were positive for M. pachydermatis either alone or in association with other organisms. Yeasts were identified according to morphological characters, growth on Sabouraud's dextrose agar and biochemical reactions. The isolates were got confirmed as M. pachydermatis by Public Health Laboratory Services, Bristol, UK.
