Abstract

Immune mediated Hemolytic anemia was diagnosed using canine specific coomb's test (consisting of anti-IgG, -IgM and -C3) in 4 cases, which were severely anemic and had revealed regenerative anemia and spherocytosis on blood smear examination. The age of dogs suffering from Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia ranged from 2 to 10 years with a mean age of 4.5 years and all were males. Complete blood count and clinical chemistry was done which revealed leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, hyperbilirubinemia and elevation of alkaline phosphatase, alanine amino transferase and aspartate amino transferase enzymes. All the four cases were secondary immune mediated hemolytic anemia as three of them were also diagnosed positive for Eherlichia canis and one for Leptospira based on dot-enzyme immune assay.
