Cancers or neoplasms are the proliferating growths which proliferate continuously without any purpose. The etiological agent for occurrence of these growths is not known. Fibroleiomyoma is the genital tract tumour of canine. It constitutes about 80 percent of tumours of the uterus, vagina and vulva of bitch. Reports of fibroleiomyoma in vagina of bitch are very few. The present communication deals with a case of fibroleiomyoma at dorsal wall of vagina in a bitch aged 6 years.. In the present study a six year-old female, non descript breed of canine was presented in the veterinary teaching hospital with growth on dorsal vaginal wall just posterior to urethral orifice. The mass was pedunculated. Initially, the growth was small but after that it was enlarged in size over next 10–20 days. On clinical examination, the animal showed restlessness, emaciation, anorexia and sometime dullness. The mass was pedunculated, irregular, whitish grey in colour and firm in consistency. The growth was removed surgically. It was hard to cut on incision. The animal was given xylazine 1.1 ml (2%) and lignocaine 7 ml (2%).The dog was laid down in vertebral column. The line of incision was further desensitized with subcutaneous lignocaine hydrochloride (2%).The growth was excised from the base and bleeding vessels were ligated. Area of attachment was cauterized with silver nitrate to kill the tumour cells if left any. The wound was closed with interrupted mattress suture using silk. For post operative therapy antibiotics and liver supplements were given so as to proper and quick healing. Later it was examined microscopically which reveals the presence of encapsulated neoplastic nodules consisted of the admixture of smooth muscle, connective tissue, and fibroblastic cells. The tumour reported here was considered benign because of the lack of clear pleomorphism, invasiveness, multinuclear giant cells and low mitotic activity. On the basis of these lesion, the swelling was diagnosed as fibroleiomyoma.
