Fowl typhoid, caused by Salmonella Gallinarum is a septicaemic contagious bacterial disease in poultry, causing economic losses, due to performance moderation and mortality in chicks of all ages. This disease is endemic in many parts of the world. There are high-intensity outbreaks of fowl typhoid in India. This article deals with the evaluation of the pattern of immune response of susceptible broiler chicks exposed to S.Gallinarum infection.Various studies have indicated that both humoral and cell-mediated immune responses are operative in the protection against S. Gallinarum infection. Vaccine formulation having the ability to stimulate an immune response can be developed against fowl typhoid for effective immunisation of poultry to achieve effective control. There is also an increase in the concentration of serum proteins and immunoglobulin (IgG) levels and a rise in antibody titre. It is necessary for strategic control of the disease.
