The effect of paper and pulp industry effluent on humoral immune response in mice was studied in 128 mice aged 2 weeks procured from Small Animal Experimental House of the University. The mice were randomly divided into two equal groups. The mice of both the groups I and II were immunised with Ranikhet disease vaccine (R2B) at every 15th day up to 120 days. Group É was kept as control while group II mice were given paper and pulp industry effluent daily orally ad libitum instead of drinking water. The humoral immune response in mice was measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The results showed significant reduction in specific antibody titres leading to suppression in humoral immune response in paper and pulp industry effluent fed mice in comparison to control.
