Abstract

Jaagsiekte (means “Driving Sickness”) also known as Ovine Pulmonary Adenomatosis is a chronic disease of adult sheep, caused by an exogenous retrovirus called Jaagsiekte Sheep Retro virus (JSRV). The JSRV causes neoplastic transformation of alveolar epithelium (AT-II cells) and bronchiolar epithelium (Clara cells). The viral genome consists of nucleo capsid (NC), capsid protein (CP) and matrix proteins (MA proteins). The present paper describes immunohistochemical detection of JSRV-MA antigen in 36 lung samples collected from cases of Ovine Pulmonary Adenomatosis.
