For the present investigation pathology of skin lesions in cattle were studied in 3380 cattle of different age, breed and sex.out of which 663 skin samples showing gross lesions were preserved in 10% formal saline, processed and then stained with H. & E. stain. Dermatitis was recorded in 23.18 percent cases. Various types included were acute dermatitis showing ballooning degeneration and intraepidermal vesicle, subacute dermatitis showing epidermal hyperplasia, spongiosis and ballooning degeneration and infiltration, perivascular dermatitis showing infiltration of histiocytes and lymphocytes around vessels in dermis, interface dermatitis showing epidermal necrosis extensive lichenoid infiltration and fibroplasia in dermis, fibrosing dermatitis revealing dermal fibrosis, atrophic dermatitis showing epidermal and adnexal atrophy, chronic dermatitis showing vriable hyperplasia of epidermis and dermal infiltration of mononuclears.
