Abstract

A case of epithelioid variant of liposarcoma in 5 year old cattle is described. A tennis ball size growth was presented on the left cheek. Feeding, mastication and water intake were normal. Exploratory puncture revealed compact growth. The tumors mass, which formed in the subcutis of the left cheek, was excised surgically. Antibiotics for 7 days and NSAID for 3 days were administered and sample collected for laboratory examination. This was followed by recurrence and metastasis to lymph nodes. Laboratory examination confirmed the diagnosis as liposarcoma. The primary tumour was composed of sheets of lipid-laden cells. Presence of cytokeratins was considered to be evidence of epithelioid differentiation.
