Pathological study on Occurrence of various reproductive diseases in goats at Rajasthan

The present investigation was carried out from August 2008 to February 2009. During this period a total number of 1024 samples of female genital tract were collected from goats of different age groups and breeds. Out of these 104 samples of different organs, showing gross lesions were collected and tissue sections from these were subjected to histopathological examination. An overall occurrence of various pathological conditions affecting the female genital tract of goats was observed as 10.11 per cent. Pathological conditions in ovary revealed in 39.4 per cent cases as: Oophoritis 3.84 per cent, Follicular cyst in 5.76 per cent, Lutein cyst in 1.92 per cent, Parovarian cyst in 7.69 per cent, Sclerosed ovary in 3.84 per cent, Persistent corpus luteum in 2.88 per cent, Folliculoids in 4.8 per cent, Follicular atresia in 5.76 per cent, Heamorrhage in 1.92 per cent and Granulosa theca cell tumor in 0.96 per cent. Oviduct revealed pathological condition in 5.76 per cent cases as: Acute salpingitis in 1.92 per cent and Chronic salpingitis in 1.92 per cent and Hydrosalpinx in 1.92 per cent. Uterus revealed pathological conditions in 41.34 per cent cases as: Chronic non suppurative metritis in 4.8 per cent, Acute non-suppurative endometritis in 6.7 per cent, Chronic non sppurative endometritis in 5.76 per cent, Necrotic endometritis in 0.92 per cent, pyometra in 0.92 per cent, Hydrometra in 0.92 per cent, Atrophy in 2.88 per cent, Endometrial glandular hyperplasia in 7.69 per cent, Adenomyosis in 2 (1.92 per cent) and Mummified foetus in 4.8 per cent. Cervix revealed pathological conditions in 3.84 per cent cases as: Cervictis in 2.88 per cent and Bent cervix in 0.96 per cent. Vagina and Vulva revealed pathological conditions in 9.61 per cent cases as: Vulvovaginitis 2.88 per cent, Fibroma 0.92 per cent and Parasitic cyst 5.76 per cent.
