Abstract

A serological study in broiler breeder was conducted to know the prevalence of Mycoplasma synoviae (MS) in different states of India during January 2015 to July 2016. Materials and Methods: A total of 1,354 sera samples were collected from the different states, and then competitive ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay) was conducted to know the titre of the sample. Results and Discussion: Out of them, 556 serum samples were found positive to MS and overall prevalence was observed 41.1%. Sero-prevalence of MS infection was found significantly (p<0.0001) higher during summer season (58.50%) than in winter (15.3%). Again, this was recorded in different age groups, with significantly (p<0.0001) higher occurrence in birds which aged more than 30 weeks (53.70%) compared with younger birds (12.20%). Out of seven states, much higher prevalence was observed in Telangana (60.60%) states and lower prevalence (3.7%) was observed in Maharashtra.
