Abstract

Jharkhand is a state in the eastern part of India and is enclosed by Bihar to the northern side, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh to the western side, Odisha to the southern part, and West Bengal to the eastern part. Ranchi, State Capital, has a humid subtropical climate. In winter, there is much less rainfall in Ranchi than in summer. The average annual temperature is 23.1°C. Precipitation here is about 1358 mm per year. The summer lasts from mid-April to mid-June. May, the hottest month, characterized by daily high temperatures around 37°C (98° F) and low temperatures around 25°C (77° F). The southwest monsoon, from mid-June to October, brings nearly all the state’s annual rainfall, which ranges from about 40 inches (1,000 mm) in the west-central part of the state to more than 60 inches (1,500 mm) in the southwest. The district reports sporadic cases of Dengue since 2006 followed by an outbreak of Dengue in a localized area in the months of August to November from the year 2017 to 2019. In the last three years, cases of Dengue are often reported in large numbers, which increased the probability of any outbreak of Dengue in the district. Trends of Dengue among the febrile suspect cases tested for Dengue have been studied in the paper.
