Antibodies to Salmonella gallinarum were detected by a Dot-enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (Dot-ELISA) in broiler chickens experimentally infected with S. gallinarum var duisburg. All the infected chickens were found serologically positive when examined at one week post-infection. Very high antibody titres were recorded in the first week which continued up to 4th week of infection and then started declining. The Dot-ELISA was found to be a sensitive, rapid and simple assay for detecting S. gallinarium antibodies in chickens.
