Neonatal diarrhoea in bovine calves especially in cross-bred animals is an important cause of economic loss to dairy and beef industry. Since the diarrhoea occurs in calves during first few days of their life, the passive immunity through colostrum plays an important role in prevention of diseases. In order to ascertain the role of passive immunity, a total of 76 colostrum samples were tested for the presence of antibodies against rotavirus. Out of 76 colostral samples, 32.8% and 36.8% were found positive for antibodies against bovine group A rotavirus infection by AGPT and CIEP tests, respectively.
