Abstract

The seroprevalence of infectious bursal disease (IBD) in poultry in different agro-climatic zones of Himachal Pradesh was investigated by using sandwich blocking ELISA. Overall seroprevalence of IBD antibodies in Himachal Pradesh was 47.98%. Seroprevalence of IBD was highest in district Kangra (60.86%) followed by Hamirpur (54.55%), Solan (54.55%), Una (53.12%), Bilaspur (30.31%) and Mandi (17.02%). Birds of 4–6 weeks age showed high titre as compared to rest of age group. The seroprevalence was maximum in vaccinated birds (79.4%), indicating that titres were due to vaccination. The group of birds in which vaccination status was not known, also exhibited IBD antibody titre (38.41%) which indicated that, IBD is in sub-clinical form in Himachal Pradesh.
