Abstract

Effect of Immuplus, a herbal immunomodulator on the humoral immunity in developing stage of chicks was studied. For this purpose 104 freshly hatched chicks were maintained up to 60 days of age under ideal husbandry conditions in two groups of 52 each. One group was given Immuplus @ 25 mg/kg body weight in drinking water and the other group was kept as control. All the chicks were vaccinated against New Castle disease and infectious bursal disease. Blood samples were collected at 5 days intervals from day 1 to 60 days of age from each group and subjected to estimation of IgG, IgM and IgA using ELISA The mean ELISA values revealed high immunoglobulin (IgG, IgM and IgA) titre in birds treated with Immuplus as compared to the control group of birds. LST was performed to evaluate the B-cell blastogenesis.
