The role of different classes of T cells in CPD virus infection in lambs was investigated. Both CD4+ and CD8+ T cells were found to increase significantly during the acute stage of viral infection. A significant high level of nitric oxide production in peripheral blood mononuclear cells was observed in infected rather than control lambs. Nitric oxide along with T lymphocytes are speculated to have a role in recovery from virus infection.
