Abstract

Cytokines which playa significant role in Immune responses have been evaluated in granuloma at transcriptionallevel in different stages of granuloma. The decoding of m-RNA message for cytokines is done by RNase protection assay using specific probes. It is observed that cytokine expression differs as the granuloma progresses in different stages. Cytokines like IL-1, IL-6, TNF alpha, IL-12, gamma-interferon and the recently discovered cytokine IL-18 play significant role in the immune -architecture of granuloma.
