Abstract

The seroprevalence of Mycoplasma equigenitalium by an indirect-ELISA has been determined in genitally diseased and apparently healthy equines. The results suggested a higher seroprevalence of specific M. equigenitalium-ELISA-antibodies in diseased equines (20.0%) than those in healthy equines (3.7%). Disease-wise specific seroprevalence of M. equigenitalium in equines ranged from 0 to 41.2% (0% for abortion and balanoposthitis, 15.9% for repeat breed and 41.2% for metritis).
