Abstract

Carboplatin is a very potent and successful antineoplastic. It shows a good response in ovarian, small cell lung, head & neck, and testicular cancer. Currently it is the second most widely used platinum anticancer drug in the world. In the present investigation we have shown that Dalton's Lymphoma growth is inhibited by carboplatin in vivo condition but in vitro treatment of DL cells with carboplatin shows contrasting result. In fact the doses of carboplatin used were found to marginally enhance DL cell proliferation, while slightly inhibiting the proliferation of splenocytes/thymocytes. Further, there was marginally increase in NO production by peritoneal macrophages treated with carboplatin.
