Abstract

An attempt has been made to identify the mycobacteria rapidly at the species level on Indian strains by earlier developed method by PCR targeting hsp65 gene. This involves restriction with two enzymes i.e. Bst E II and Hae III on PCR amplified products which were differentiated to the species level. This is a rapid method and does not involve any hybridization and detection steps and it can be easily completed within 24 hours.
