Abstract

We report the successful use of DAT in early detection of VL cases in their pre-clinical stage in the selected Kala-azar endemic area in Bihar. The study highlights that 77.77% subjects in VL households, diagnosed initially on the basis of DAT develop the VL infection suggesting that active transmission is currently going on in endemic regions particularly in households which carry active or cured cases of Kala-azar.
