Abstract

Gene chip technology provides efficient genomic information using miniaturized, high-density arrays of DNA or oligonucleotide probes. This technology has accelarated the investigation of gene regulation. Arrays are mainly used for the identification of sequence (gene/gene interaction) and determination of expression level or abundance of genes under various conditions. Additionally this technology has been used for disease diagnosis, drug discovery (pharmacogenomics), toxicological research (toxicogenomics), investigation of simultaneous expression of thousands of genes and detection of mutations etc.
