With Ziehl-Neelsen stain, M. tuberculosis looks slender, straight or slightly curved red with beaded or barred appearance. Despite the various infectious disease, mycobacterial disease continue to be important public health problems all over the world. Mycobacteria have long been recognized as important human gathogen. The WHO has identified India as a major hot-spot region for Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection (Siddiqi et al., 2002). In 1997, there were estimated 4.8 million prevalent cases of TB and of these 2.2 million were smear positive.
The Indian case fatality rate was 24%s.
