Prevalence of autoantibodies in paediatric group of leprosy patients

Autoantibodies were reported in paediatric group of leprosy patients. The seropositivity was found to be significantly more than those of children suffering from other diseases (not leprosy). The antibody positivity to myosin was found to be significantly more in multi bacillary leprosy children compared to paucibacillary children. The presence of autoantibodies in childhood suggests their induction by M. leprae infection.
