Abstract

IS6110(123bp) has been used most extensively as a target for detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in clinical samples. In our study, diagnosis of tuberculosis from formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections (FFPET), of histopathologically diagnosed patients who were AFB negative on Zeihl-Neelsen staining, by PCR targetting IS611 0 has been reported. Hybridization by IS611 0 probe and detection was done by DIG method to confirm the diagnosis and found to be useful for confirmation of diagnosis in more than 75% of cases.
