Abstract

Osteoarthritis is an of old age disease and is diagnosed on the basis of clinical and laboratory investigation, radiological findings and clinical symptoms proved in osteoarthritis patients. The exact mechanism of inflammation of joint in osteoarthritis is still obscure. The present study we tried to status of the TNF-α, IL-6 and estrogen hormone involvement in osteoarthritis in elderly females of age group 40–60 years and normal healthy female control subjects. Significant changes (P<0.001), were observed between TNF-α, IL-6 and estrogen hormone in elderly osteoarthritic female patients as compared with healthy control groups.
