Abstract

The foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) antigen expression on the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and monocytes following incubation with FMDV alone or FMDV-antibody complex was analyzed by FACS technology. At 6 hour post inoculation (hpi), monocytes exposed to FMDV alone or FMDV-antibody complex showed antigen expression. PBMC exposed to FMDV alone could not induce antigen expression at 6hpi but FMDV-antibody complex induced antigen expression on PBMC at 6 hpi. Higher antigen expression was recorded in monocyte and PBMC exposed to FMDV-antibody complex compared to those recorded in cultures exposed to FMDV alone.
