Monoclonal antibody based competitive ELISA (cELISA) for detecting brucellosis in cattle was standardized with the help of Animal Disease Research Institute (ADRI), Canada and compared with Standard Tube Agglutination Test (SAT) and indirect ELISA (iELISA). A total of 411 animals including breeding bulls, aborted and in-contact cows belonging to various sources were screened. Out of 411 animals 104 were positive in cELISA, 107 in iELISA and 93 in SAT. The cELISA was found to establish true status of the disease in three breeding bulls which otherwise were yielding positive titres (≤1:40) in SAT and three doubtful cases where a titre of 1:20 in SAT was observed. The results of cELISA were comparable with iELISA.
