Infectious bursal disease (IBD) is a highly contagious, immuno suppressive viral infection causing colossal economic losses in the form of high morbidity and mortality in young chickens.. The age of vaccination of progeny chickens is determined by the level of existing anti IBDV maternal antibodies in the chickens. A double antibody sandwich blocking ELISA using anti IBDV monoclonal antibody as virus capturing antibody was developed for determining the level of anti IBDV maternal antibodies in chickens. On comparison with the polyclonal antibody based blocking ELISA, a correlation coefficient of 0.93 was found.
