In the 21st century where the internet is a vast source of information and everyone fulfils his/ her informative needs from the web. Until the origin of the internet, we used to regularly visit libraries and seek the help of librarians for completing our tasks, but in the age of the world wide web, it has become very difficult to suggest to anyone about the uses of libraries and the traditional print and non-print resources stack of libraries. The reader now has a fixed mindset that every piece of information is available on the internet. Current trends indicate that libraries are losing their charm and need to be revived the right way. This lends importance to librarians and librarianship in our society. That means there is a paradigm shift in the role of librarians. He is now not only limited to the information collector but also a communicator of information as well. Librarians are performing the role of information providers and libraries as resource centres to our societies. Today, a user looks towards libraries as a place to be productive rather than access information. Perhaps more than at any previous time in the long-term experience of the profession, librarians are of vital importance in education.
