The emergence of open-source LMS has greatly changed how libraries operate by providing affordable, adaptable solutions to handle various library resources and services. Out of these, Koha has become a significant player, known for its strength and flexibility. This article gives a thorough overview of the open-source LMS environment, focusing specifically on Koha and discussing its development, main characteristics, and advantages. By analysing multiple LMS platforms, the paper showcases how Koha stands out with its wide range of features, higher rates of adoption, and superior benefits when compared to other systems. Furthermore, this paper uncovers a critical deficiency in existing LMS by examining how Koha has been successfully implemented in various case studies, particularly in terms of advanced in/out tracking and integrated search systems. In order to tackle this issue, the paper suggests a new approach - combining a complex gate register tool with Koha. This integration is designed to improve library management by offering more advanced features for monitoring library entries and exits, as well as enhancing search and retrieval procedures. Through the utilization of cutting-edge analytics and search technology, this solution aims to provide a more user-friendly and effective method for overseeing library assets, ultimately catering to the changing requirements of modern libraries. This paper offers an in-depth analysis of how the integration can transform library operations and enhance user experience, providing a valuable resource for those curious about the future of library technology.
