Keeping track of the performance of a website is necessary for its proper functioning and, also, it suggests what timely improvements are required for it to survive in this competitive world. One of the criteria to measure the performance of a website is its web traffic. The extent to which a website attracts the visitors and keeps them engaged, is helpful in gaining insight into the quality, efficiency and many other aspects of the website. Several metrics involved in the measurement of web traffic are number of visitors (unique or repeated), monthly visits, average daily visits, average visit duration, number of pages visited per visit, bounce rate etc. Numerous web analytics tools are available worldwide to assist the collection and analysis of the website visitor data. In this paper, a comparative study of the web traffic of twenty private universities of Haryana has been analyzed with the help of an online web analytical tool.
