The university is an autonomous institution. Teachers working in the university have freedom to manage their work schedule as they desire. The university allows its teachers to make teaching hours more pragmatic and hence, expects a longer stay of theris in the institution. The study aims at assessing utilization of work hours for teaching activities. 467 teachers working in campus (n = 17) as well as remote colleges (n = 66) from three state-affiliated universities of two states – Bihar and Jharkhand conveniently participated in the study. A time management scale based on two major studies – Work Importance Study by Super and Nevill (1986) and WIS of the Spanish team by (de Lecea, 1982) was developed after a series of workshops organized by the investigator. It consisted of various dimensions covering time variable. The emerging trend unfolded some crude realities of the university system.
