Water samples, collected from wells and some irrigation projects were studied for their quality. While the well waters are from moderately to very highly alkaline, canal waters are of good quality. In general the waters of Rajasthan can be classified as saline alkaline. The nature of well waters is also found to vary from one soil region to another.
